Salam Onthel…

A container full of “Toys for you boys” ! hahaha !
From the land of the “white elephants” (?), I think I see some old bicycles from England.
Did somebody collect a lot of old bicycles in another country (cheap ?), put them in a container and bring it to Indonesia ?
I can imagine that people are very happy with this in a country like indonesia, where there are more people that like old bicycles, than there are actualy old bicycles available !
I think this is also done with old bicycles from Holland, only not with complete containers full of them as far as I know.
It would be easy to fill a container full of Gazelle’s, Batavus, Sparta, and other marks from the 1950′s, 60′s and 70′s, but the problem is to get that container in Indonesia….I believe it is forbidden to import OLD bicycles in Indonesia !
And there is a lot of corruption, so the container could easily “disappear” somewhere at the border.
Unless you know people at the border (harbor) and give them some money “to look the other way” and you could take the container to your home !
I would not know how to do this, but I know there is an Indonesian man here in Holland that buys a lot of old bicycle things and he exports it to Indonesia.
I never met that man, but I know he does this from an other bicycle collector here in Holland who sell’s things to him every now and than.
Good luck with your “new” oldtimers !
Mr.Andre the picture above is not in Indonesia, but this is our friend in Thailand. They buy bikes and parts from the England.
In Indonesia there are people who bring a lot of bikes from Holland, you are correct…to buy a bike from overseas into Indonesia is very large cost and many people in the harbor which complicates, essentially they are asking for money..so that the reason why bike from Holland is very expensive .
